Bodegas Pedro Luis Martínez
The winery was founded in 1870 by a wine merchant named Pedro Luis Martinez. He recognized that the grape variety Monastrell is well adapted to the extreme climate of the Jumilla region and wanted to help the grape variety to fame.
Today, the winery is still family owned and run by the 4th generation.
It is located in the sunniest part of Spain, in Jumilla. A variety of their own vineyards is old and has survived due to the good care the phylloxera epidemic in the 1980s and is thus root right.
The wine production happens by innovative wine preparation methods, for example the Cryo maceration. The cellar is equipped with the most modern technology. Most wines are aged in cement tanks and barrels.
The team around the oenologist Juan Miguel Benitez is very experienced and always anxious to produce high-quality wines, which serve as a figurehead of the region Jumilla.
