Combination of modernity and tradition
In Navarre lies the town of Olite, a historic centre with over 1500 years of history. Not far from there you will find the Bodegas Piedemonte, an ultra-modern winery. This contrast shows wonderfully what Bodegas Piedemonte is all about. The combination of tradition and modern cellar technology was what moved four winegrowers to join forces in 1992 to produce quality wine. Since 2005 the estate has been part of the Navarre Wine Route, which presents the diversity and characteristics of the wine production of the area.
The land and the wine
The estate currently has 273 hectares of vineyards, located in the Navarre appellation. They stretch across the Ribera-Alta region, near Olite and Cadreita. Terraces characterise the image of the first region. Despite the dry Spanish climate, the vines are not additionally irrigated. The soil is made up of loam, but it is not very deep, with a high percentage of stones. In contrast, Cadreita is mostly flat, terraces are only found sporadically. One irrigation would not survive the vines here. The stony clay soils also extend into this area.
Bodegas Piedemonte cultivates Garnacha, Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon as red representatives of the grape, the white varieties are covered by Chardonnay, Viura, Muscatel and Sauvignon Blanc. 19 different wines from our own vineyards are now on offer.
"The wine's journey through the cellar begins with the walk through the forest of steel, a break in the wood and the dream in the glass" - this is how Piedemonte describes his vinification process of stainless steel ageing and wood and bottle ageing, which also sums up the modern production method.
Sustainable in many ways
Bodegas Piedemonte is committed to high quality wine and has therefore implemented the BRC and ISF standards for high-quality food production. The certification is renewed annually to guarantee a consistently high standard. In addition, Piedemonte tries to make its production as environmentally friendly as possible. Sustainable water management, biological plant protection and reduction of energy consumption are only the first steps that are taken to be able to produce great wines for many years to come. In addition, the winegrowers are involved in social projects in their region and beyond.
