Château d’Armailhac - Cinquièmes Cru Classé from Pauilliac
Château d'Armailhac is a renowned winery in Southwest France. This medium sized winery has been under the ownership of Baron Philippe de Rothschild since 1933. Like Mouton-Rothschild, the winery is also located close to Pauillac in the Bordeaux region. Over half of the area is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, and the rest of the land is divided between Merlot and Cabernet Franc cultivation.
The renowned Bordeaux Winery
The wines from Château d’Armailhac get their elegance and finesse from the deep gravelly soil and its loamy-chalky substrate. Rothschild puts great store in traditional and strict production methods in order to ensure quality. The grapevines are not subjected to any unnatural pressure, and only top specialists are entrusted with this complicated work. Experience, patience and close monitoring are very important for the production process, and the acidity and sugar content of the grapes, for example, are regularly tested in the laboratory.
