    First traditional bottle fermentation in Mâcon

    In 1920, the House of Chevalier was founded by Eugène Chevalier in Charnay-lès-Mâcon, near Mâcon. From the beginning, Eugène knew that he had to face a great challenge. The Méthode Traditionelle had already been very successful in Burgundy, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Rully - only it was not yet bubbling over in the Mâcon region. And this is exactly what Eugène Chevalier made his task.

    Mastering tasks

    Eugène threw himself body and soul into this task with his House Chevalier. And he succeeded - even perfectly. He was thus the first in Mâcon to introduce traditional bottle fermentation.

    Self-confidence is everything

    The Maison Chevalier was aware of the quality of its sparkling wines and of its expertise, so Eugène did not hesitate to confidently challenge Champagne.

    Chevalier was also proud to produce sparkling wines according to the Méthode Traditionelle, whose prolonged vat ageing perfectly expresses the quality of the base wines, the fullness of their maturity and the brightness of their aromas.
