Felino Malbec 2019 - Viña Cobos
Prices incl. VAT plus shipping costs
The Felino Malbec by Viña Cobos from Mendoza, Argentina, presents itself in a strong purple red colour with slightly violet and bluish nuances. The bouquet has white flowers and red fruit notes, with hints of white pepper and cloves. Taste notes of chocolate and liquorice surround the palate, in the mouth it gives itself full-bodied, softly with well integrated tannins. A well-balanced, elegant wine that fades away in a long, soft finish.
Serving recommendations and tasting tips for Felino Malbec
We recommend this fruity and spicy red Argentinean with grilled or roasted beef, lamb, goat or small game.
Cultivation and vinification of the Cobos Felino Malbec
Felino Malbec is made from 100% Malbec grapes grown in the vineyards of Luján de Cuyo, Maipù and Valle de Uco, at an altitude of 700 to 1200 metres above sea level. The climate in this region is dry with little rainfall. The vintage year 2014-2105 was, however, a somewhat more difficult year, with more rain and higher humidity than usual, so that the harvest had to be started almost a month earlier than usual. Malbec grapes were harvested between mid-March and mid-April. The fermentation was carried out on selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks, which hold between 8 and 17 tons, followed by bottling in February 2016 without clarification and unfiltered.
The wines of the 2015 harvest are more terroir than usual. They show elegance, medium-bodied body, fineness and low alcohol content, but at the same time lively, very accentuated fruit notes, aromatic fullness and balanced acidity.
The Felino line from Viña Cobos
The special characteristic of the wines of the Felino line is their freshness and emphasized fruitiness. The grapes used come from different vineyards in the Mendoza region and each area emphasizes the richness and typical character of its grape variety. The range consists of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay, wines of remarkable intensity and brilliance, supported by lively acidity and balanced and soft tannins. They are the result of patient and tedious work and studies carried out by winemaker Paul Hobbs, owner of Viña Cobos, on the terroir and the development of other suitable vineyards and vineyards in the Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco regions.
