Courage that pays off
1966 was no easy time for Italian winegrowers - but Domenico Poggiali Fèlsina dared to buy a vineyard during this time. His idea was to invest in the quality of the wines and in a competent, young team.
The courage has paid off over the years. Today the Fèlsina owns more than 50 hectares of vineyards and has managed to combine the modern with the traditional with passion for wine, negotiation skills and good management.
The Felsina winery and its faces
In the 70's Giuseppe Mazzocolin joined the family winery and was one of the founders of the international recognition. With his high work ethic and respect for Tuscan and Italian culture, he paved the way for the international market.
The longstanding friendship with Luigi Veronelli and the collaboration with oenologist Franco Bernabei also shaped the development of the Fèlsina.
For more than 50 years Domenico and Giuseppe Poggiali have been writing the history of the Fèlsina. Giuseppe's son, Giovanni Poggiali, has been working in the family business since 1990.
Where Sangiovese feels at home
The vineyards of Fèlsina are characterised by different soils and microclimates. This is how the wines acquire their unique and individual character. Sangiovese (or Sangioveto as it is called in Tuscany) is the heart of the Fèlsina winery.
The combination of the terroir and the grape variety creates an inseparable element of the past and future of Fèlsina - and this can be felt in every glass. Whether in a bottle of:
- Chianti Colli Senesi
- Chianti Classico
- Maestro Raro
- Rància Chianti Classico Riserva
