Firriato combines quality and passion
Firriato is one of the leading wine producers in Sicily. The wineries of the company, which was founded in the 1980s, are located on more than 300 hectares in the western and eastern part of the Mediterranean island. The high level of these wines is maintained despite the large production of more than four million bottles per year. Often the wines combine autochthonous with international grape varieties.
Passion and commitment to the local community were the decisive factors in the creation of Firriato by the young entrepreneurs Salvatore Di Gaetano and his wife Vinzia Novara. In a region that has been used for centuries for agriculture and wine-growing, they continue the tradition and in just a few years they have achieved international recognition.
In addition to passion, quality is another characteristic that is also reflected in the development of the company. Gaetano and Novara pursue these values not only in rediscovering local and reinterpreting international varieties, but also in every aspect of their work, from the soil, through the cellars, to sales and customer relations. The result is high-quality Sicilian wines with an international reach.
Multi-faceted nature as inspiration for Firriato
An important source of inspiration for Firriato's wines is the diversity of the island. This unique "continent" of Sicily encompasses landscapes that could not be more different, but which are united in their uniqueness, including the Trapani area and the region around Etna and the island of Favignana. These three regions are home to the company's lands. Firriatos wines take us on a journey through the diverse nature of Sicily, carried by the magic, colours, traditions and flavours of the island.
On Favignana, the largest of the Egadian islands west of Sicily, Firriato has fulfilled a great dream with the cultivation of a long vanished vine. Between red sand and tufa, the vines grow for a demanding and incomparable project. On the slopes of the famous volcano Etna there is a second sanctuary of the company. Other wineries are located in the rural surroundings of Trapani.
The producer's range includes an extensive selection of wines from local and international grape varieties as well as special creations from rare varieties.
The extensive portfolio includes, among other things, the following:
- Etna and Cavanera from the region around Etna
- Camelot, Santagostino, Harmonium, L' Ecrù and Chiaramonte from the Trapani area, home to four vineyards of Firriato.
- Favinia from the island of Favignana
Only the best grapes are used for the wines. The production process combines knowledge, years of experience and state-of-the-art technologies. Each step of the long process is carefully executed to guarantee high quality. Firriato's vision is to produce great wine with a personality that reflects the peculiarities and elegance of the country. Awards such as Robert Parker's and Gambero Rosso's "Two Red Glasses" also show that the careful and qualitative work is worthwhile.
The growing esteem of gourmet restaurants from all over the world also proves that Firriato has a safe feeling for consumers' tastes.
Due to its international orientation, the company can be described as one of the best examples of commercial success in Sicily. Especially customers in Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, Sweden and Norway appreciate the wines of this brand. Thanks to its dynamism and passion, Firriato is able to strengthen its existing international contacts and at the same time open up new markets, especially the Asian market.
