Red Vineyard trocken 2017 - Markus Pfaffmann
The Red Vineyard by Markus Pfaffmann shows itself in a deep dark purple. Fruity plum and blackberry aromas dominate the nose, followed by mocha and chocolate notes as well as a fine-spicy wood nuance.
On the palate, this red wine delights with its pleasant tannin structure, its volume and its juiciness. The finale of this cuvée reminds of cherries and chocolate with a touch of spice.
Vinification of the Markus Pfaffman Red Vineyard
In order to meet the different requirements of the individual grape varieties, these were grown in different vineyards and vinified separately. While the Merlot prefers deep soils with reasonably good water supply, the Pinot Noir Precoce needs sandy loess loam with limestone inflows. For the Dunkelfelder, finally, a fertile soil is needed.
After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and crushed in a mill, from which the mash is produced. This will be left to itself for some time before being fermented in a steel tank. The mash period and also the movement of the mash vary depending on the variety. The wine is finally removed from the mash and partly expanded in stainless steel and partly in small or large wooden barrels. This creates a harmonious interaction between fruit and wood.
