Fresh wind in the DO Rueda
Ricardo (actually Richard) Sanz, part of a winemaking family in its sixth generation, shows with his own small line his ideas and preferences of how a wine should be for him. Together with his siblings he produces the wines in the family business Bodegas Menade. The story begins in 1820, when their ancestors cultivated vineyards in a variety of locations, which are now part of the DO Rueda.
Although Bodegas Menade was only founded in 2005, Alejandra, Marco and Richard can look back on 200 years of experience in winemaking.
It is with great pleasure that the original architectural features of the new location of Bodegas Menade have been preserved and slightly enhanced with some restoration work. Thanks to its optimal temperature and humidity levels all year round, it offers the perfect refuge and resting place for the wines matured in barriques and old vintages. It is also an ideal and quiet place to hold small to medium-sized tasting events in addition to the many local activities.
Connectedness to nature
The work in the vineyard is all aimed at harmony with the environment. The naturally available resources are used, which have already proven themselves in ancient cultural practices. An example of this is the use of plant infusions or whey, which protect the soil, the plants and the naturally occurring yeasts. Bodegas Menade does not use any chemical treatments whatsoever.
