The starting point for the vineyard Rings around the siblings Steffen and Andi is the parental farm, which produced both fruit and cask wine and exists since 1960. In 2001 the first own vintage was developed, since 2008 both run the winery together. Steffen Rings is responsible for the vineyard and Andi manages the cellar. In the best sense a family run winery. Everyone is involved and contributes to the good and healthy climate of the winery. Within a few years, the Rings Winery has become a wine producer whose clear "dry" line has become an integral part of the German wine world. Gault Millau, Eichelmann and Falstaff are proof of this.
Find the style
The defining style of the winery is above all the vinification of white wines from individual sites around Freinsheim. The aim is to create dense, balanced wines with a strong personality and a lot of character, which are characterized by an excellent storage life. The spectacular ring bottlings of recent years are among the most exciting in the Palatinate. Especially with the Rieslings, the soil flavor and the mineral character are emphasized.
The most important white grape varieties for the winery are
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Pinot Gris
With the red vines it is above all:
- Pinot Noir
- Cabernet Sauvignon
Creating the basis for top quality
Intensive work in the vineyard, strict yield reduction already on the vine and strict selection of the grapes at harvest are the basis for top quality. The grapes are harvested by hand when as ripe as possible in order to be able to work strictly according to the principle "less is more" later in the cellar. All vineyards belonging to Weingut Rings are cultivated in a way that is close to nature, as only this type of farming leads to long-term success according to the winery's philosophy. Consequently, Rings is certified organic. From the agricultural beginnings of the father there are hardly any vineyards left. In the meantime, the family cultivates some of the best sites in the Palatinate. In addition to the Kallstadter Saumagen, the Rings brothers' vineyards also include the extremely mineral-rich Steinacker or Ungsteiner Weilberg.
