When Gottfried Roner began with distilling in 1946, he laid the foundations for a family business that has been successful for more than 70 years and is now run by the third generation. If the production of grappa was at the beginning, the fruit distillation was carried out with the purchase of the second bubble, according to the Middle European tradition. Thanks to the excellent quality of apples and pears and the talent of the young Gottfried Roner, the young company soon made a name that continues today.
The distillery was expanded with the second generation from the 1960s, new plants for the grappa and fruit brandies, a new fermentation cellar and laboratories for quality control were set up. In the course of this growth came the Ritterhof vineyard, at the end of the 90s, on the South Tyrolean wine road, the small wine cellar gradually became an excellent wine-growing business with several awarded wines.
In 2007, Karin Roner, now the third generation, took over the reins as managing director. The focus at Roner is to preserve the tradition while being open to new technologies and innovations and to constantly improve the quality of distillates and grappa. The award in 2010 as "Distiller of the Year" at the International Spirits Competition (ISW) is a well-deserved acknowledgment and recognition.
