Sabazio Rosso di Montepulciano DOC 2018 - La Braccesca
The Sabazio Rosso di Montepulciano DOC from La Braccesca is an intense ruby red wine with violet tones. On the nose it surprises with fresh fruity and floral notes, especially violets and redcurrants. On the palate, the red Sabazio from Montepulciano pleases with its fine, elegant and aromatic taste, its lively freshness, its fruity notes and its round, sweet tannins, which leave a harmonious and lasting impression. The finish is long and appealing.
Vinification of Sabazio Rosso di Montepulciano DOC from La Braccesca
The name of the wine is reminiscent of a monk from the Abbey of Omntepulciano, commonly known as Sabazio, who was the first in the Middle Ages to give evidence of viticulture in the region. The typical freshness of the autochthonous Sangiovese grape variety is combined in this wine with the inviting fruitiness of Merlot, together they are a symbol of the old Montepulciano wine-growing region.
The Sangiovese and Merlot grapes are harvested one after the other at the end of September and beginning of October, depending on how ripe they are. In the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, the must is then poured into stainless steel tanks, where the temperature-controlled fermentation takes place. This is the best way to preserve the aromatic characteristics of the grape varieties. After separation from the marc, the wine is placed in stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation and subsequent ageing for four months. In the spring of the following year it is bottled and sold.
