The Schäfer-Fröhlich Winery
The Schäfer-Fröhlich winery in the German production area Nahe in the municipality of Bockenau. Since the early 1970s, Hans and Karin Fröhlich have been cultivating this top wine estate in the fifth generation of the family. The tradition of son Tim Fröhlich, who has been responsible for the cellar since 1996. The vineyards cover 12.5 hectares of vineyards in the areas of Felseneck and Stromberg (Bockenau), Frühlingsplätzchen and Halenberg (Monzingen), as well as Felsenberg and Kupfergrube (Schlossböckelheim). 80% of the slopes are planted with Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The Riesling is harvested very late and selectively. Fermentation is carried out with pure yeast and spontaneous yeasts in the steel tank. Since 2001 the winery has been a member of the VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitäts-Weinüter).
