At Waipara Hills, the philosophy of winemaking is simple. The aim is to create a perfect balance and make the characteristics of the fruits of each season shine brightly. From the vineyard to the winery, the Waipara Hills team is perfected in their craft. The result is a wine that is rich, structured and full of complex aromas.
Andrew Brown, Winemaker
Responsible for wine-making at Waipara Hills is Andrew Brown. He is well known for his competence in aromatics, especially Riesling, from which he particularly enjoys the stylistic diversity. Andrew is proud to get his hands under the ground and vines of Waipara Hills, where he got a long-term fascination and respect for the wine produced in the valley.
After graduating from high school, Andrew graduated from Lincoln University with a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management and promised himself that he would later graduate with a degree in viticulture and oenology. In 2004, for example, after four years of travelling, he returned to the course books.
Andrew Brown himself says: "I am really looking forward to trying out and learning from the techniques of winemaking. As well as the work with new vineyards and fermentations............ as long as they behave!"
