The Zonnebloem Winery
With a history dating back to the 18th century, Zonnebloem is today one of the most prestigious names in the South African wine business. The Zonnebloem wines are vinified with great care by Chief Winemaker Deon Boshoff. He is involved in all processes: from the selection of the grapes to the careful vinification and bottling of the wine. This includes the use of new oak barrels for a part of the wine, depending on the grape variety, as well as waiting for the wine to mature before bottling.
Winery Zonnebloem - a prestigious name in South Africa
The Stellenbosch wine-growing region is located only 45 km northeast of Cape Town and got its name from its centre, the university town of Stellenbosch. It is a very old wine-growing region and has always been famous for its red wines. The different soils in the valleys and on the slopes allow the local top vineyards to produce a variety of different wine styles, which lend complexity to their cuvées. The nearby ocean moderates the influence of high temperatures.
